Wanderlust Beacons
Wanderlust Beacons
A datapack that spawns mysterious stone obelisks at the boundaries between explored and unexplored terrain.
Spawning Mechanics
When a player enters a chunk adjacent to unvisited areas, there is a chance an obelisk will rise from the ground in a nearby unexplored chunk. The obelisk spawn is marked by rising amber particles visible from considerable distance.
Structure Design
Obelisks are composed of deepslate and copper blocks in a simple spiral formation, topped with a lightning rod that occasionally sparks. They serve as natural waypoints for navigation.
Decay System
Each obelisk tracks how long players spend in its chunk vicinity. Once a player has lingered within a 3-chunk radius for a cumulative five minutes of real time, the obelisk begins deteriorating block by block until nothing remains.
Generation Limits
The generation logic prevents obelisk spam by: - Maintaining minimum distances between active beacons - Limiting total active obelisks per dimension
Compass Fragment System
When an obelisk fully crumbles, it drops a unique compass fragment. Collecting four fragments at a crafting table yields a Cartographer's Lodestone that points toward the nearest active obelisk, creating a perpetual exploration loop for players who continuously push into uncharted wilderness.
