Quick challenge

How far can you run before the mobs catch you?

Relay - Network Manager

_A network manager mod for smoother Minecraft connections._

Side: both (client and server), but the mod impacts on server more

Connector support: Fabric Connector support: I don't know; some things don't work exactly as expected.

Legacy versions: 26.1–26.1.1, 1.21.8–1.21.11, 1.21–1.21.2 Legacy versions: 1.20–1.20.1 (no longer recommended or supported)

---

Test results on 1.21.1 Dedicated Server, Client mod included

Test 1

- With mod: Java 21, 1 GB RAM, Tor proxy, playit.gg, 6 piston lag machines, v0.1.1 - With mod: pretty classic lag, chunks load faster - With mod: more load compared to vanilla, fewer lagbacks, `/tp` feels a bit faster, mob behavior is a little more stable, but if things get very laggy it can also make some vanilla bugs easier to do.

Test 2

- With mod: Java 25, 4 GB RAM, Tor proxy, playit.gg, 6 piston lag machines, v0.1.1 - With mod: pretty classic lag, a bit less load, faster chunks - With mod: fewer lagbacks, mob behavior feels a little more stable

---

On servers that do not have this mod installed (for example, Hypixel SkyBlock)

- With mod: Java 21, Tor proxy, v0.1.1 - With mod: less load - With mod: basically no big change, but block breaking / final break registration / item dropping felt just a tiny bit faster (~150–200 ms)

Client had 8 GB RAM allocated.

Honest result

From testing, the improvement is usually pretty small — somewhere like 3–10%, and mostly only if:

- you are good enough machine (because you live far from where servers were hosted or whatever) - you good enough machine - server is hosted on a good enough machine

If you don’t really have those issues/things, then the difference is usually VERY SMALL, and this mod probably isn’t worth using. But if your friend is from far country and you're hosting server and both have stable internet, it might help quite a bit.

Also, this mod does packet behavior / traffic flow magically save you from every disconnect. It changes packet behavior / traffic flow, not the laws of physics.

A lot of the code after `0.0.2.5` was AI-assisted (around 80% of code), but I still had to fix and finish coding a lot of stuff manually. Why? I'm getting ready for exams, so i've got no time to code and maintain.
