Minutes Till Midnight
This datapack introduces a new survival mechanic:
- Your maximum health gradually decreases based on total playtime. - When a player dies, they are placed into a rotation queue, allowing others to take their place. - Only a limited number of players can be "alive".
Why?
- It is mainly made to reduce the "2-week Minecraft cycle" that you have likely experienced when playing with friends by reducing burnout. - The reducing HP is used to even out the scales a little between players of different skill levels and to encourage queue rotation so that people aren't left out. - And it is a new twist for a semi-hardcore playstyle that works dynamically on servers.
⚠️Important Information:
- In server.properties you need to give the functions permission level 3 in order for the queue to be functional. - Built compatible with Minecraft 1.20+, but I have only tested it on 1.21.5. - Players who die will be rotated out and must wait for another to die before returning. - Configurable values (health decay rate, queue size, etc.) are tweakable in the datapack files if you know what you are doing, but the default is half a heart max hp loss per Minecraft day and a 3-person queue size.
P.S. Also one Easter egg if you find it :P don't read the files if you want to make it a surprise >:)
