Better Health

Better Health Bar is a client-side Fabric mod for Minecraft 1.21.11 that replaces the standard heart HUD with a cleaner, more scalable bar-based health display once the player reaches a configurable health threshold. It is designed for modpacks, RPG-style progression, and heavily buffed gameplay where vanilla hearts become hard to read or take up too much screen space. Instead of stacking rows of hearts, Better Health Bar presents health as a compact, readable status bar with text-based values for current health, maximum health, and absorption.

The mod focuses on flexibility. Players can choose between full-width and compact bar layouts, enable optional hunger and saturation bars, adjust bar heights, spacing, and offsets, and customize how the HUD is aligned on the screen. Split half-mode allows health and hunger to share the same row with configurable width and gap percentages, while top and bottom anchoring options make it possible to create layouts inspired by more modern HUD styles. Additional settings control health fill direction, floating damage and healing numbers, and text placement so the display can be tuned to fit different screen setups and UI preferences.

Better Health Bar also includes an in-game Cloth Config screen for live adjustment, making it easy to test layouts without editing config files by hand. It is entirely client-side, so it does not require installation on servers, and it is intended to work well alongside larger modded environments where players may have far more health than vanilla Minecraft was built to display cleanly. The goal of the project is simple: make high-health HUDs easier to read, easier to tune, and better looking in real gameplay.
