### About
Complementary Shaders is a shader pack for Minecraft Java Edition with exceptional attention to detail, high standards of quality, and top tier optimisation. It offers a ton of high quality effects, two default visual style choices, custom effects for almost every block in the game, profiles ranging from Potato to Ultra and it’s designed to never be obstructive during gameplay. It started as an edit of BSL Shaders in 2018, and it received countless major updates including a complete rewrite to meet the standards of our community. Complementary Shaders is dedicated to be shaped by user feedback over anything else, and it still receives regular updates to this day.

### Choose Your Style
Complementary Shaders comes with two distinct visual style options. The only difference between these two styles is the default settings. The Unbound style is designed for people looking for a more realistic experience, while the Reimagined style is made to reimagine Minecraft while preserving its unique visual elements. Please note that you can still customize everything after you download either style. You can switch to blocky clouds on the Unbound style, or use realistic water on the Reimagined style. All settings are located in Shader Options.

### Installation
**New:** You can just download the [**Complementary Installer**](https://www.complementary.dev/shaders/#download-section) and click Install to automatically do all the steps below.

**-** First you need to install the [**Iris**](https://irisshaders.dev/download) mod to be able to load shaderpacks.

**-** Then you need to launch the game, and get to the Shaderpacks/Shaders menu in Video Settings.

**-** Open the shaderpacks folder by clicking the button in the menu.

**-** Download Complementary Shaders and put it in the shaderpacks folder. (Please don’t unzip the file)

**-** Get back in the game, and choose Complementary in the shaderpacks menu. (Refresh the menu if it doesn’t appear)

ClearVision Shader

ClearVision Shader enhances Minecraft with crystal clear visibility similar to night vision in all dimensions (Overworld, Nether, End).
It is optimized for every device — from low-end (potato) to high-end — ensuring smooth and stable FPS.
Fully compatible with Minecraft 1.21 – 1.21.11 using OptiFine and Iris.

Chara’s Vibrant Shaders

Chara’s Vibrant Shaders feels like a world turned up too far—colors too bright, light too intense, everything just a little unstable. Greens glow almost unnaturally, water shimmers like liquid glass, and the sky bleeds vivid shades into the horizon. It’s beautiful in a loud, overwhelming way, like reality trying to outdo itself.

But it never quite settles. Light flickers when it shouldn’t, shadows shift unpredictably, and parts of the world seem to glitch or warp for a moment before snapping back. Sometimes it looks broken—other times, accidentally perfect.

It’s vibrant, messy, and unpredictable. Like something that wasn’t meant to work, but somehow does anyway.

It’s very buggy with contrast and night time but during the day it works out. the godrays are also very buggy.

Breeze Flow Shaders

BreezeFlow is a modified edition of Complementary Shaders for Minecraft Java Edition, created to preserve its exceptional attention to detail, quality, and optimization while pushing a more cinematic, realistic look at higher frame rates on weaker devices. Complementary Shaders began as an edit of BSL Shaders in 2018 and has since evolved through countless major updates, community feedback, and a full rewrite to meet modern standards; BreezeFlow is built on that legacy and gives full credit to the original project.

BreezeFlow’s mission is simple: keep the signature Complementary look and polish, but make it run smoother on integrated GPUs and lower-end systems without sacrificing atmosphere. It is designed to feel cinematic and immersive while remaining practical for everyday gameplay.

There are many optimizations done, too many to be listed. However most of the work was based on reducing the amount of calculations performed and a LOD system was implemented.

This shader is simply a variant of Complementary with optimization changes and color grading changes alongside new features.

I liked chocapic13’s shaders, but i could not be satisfied. I decided i wanted to try and bring my own visual goals out in the shader while i learn how to develop shaders. So here i am, with a pretty sizeable edit that stands to be quite different from the original shader!
# Requirements
– The mod [“Iris”](https://www.irisshaders.dev/download). The mod [“Optifine”](https://optifine.net/downloads) might work as well.
– Designed for Minecraft versions 1.17.0+
– AMD, Intel, and NVidia graphics are supported

# BitNixelet Shader Pack

**Hey! This shader is still in development, so there might be bugs and weird stuff. If something breaks – don’t panic, that’s normal for beta :)**

## What is this?

Basically, I’m making a shader that turns Minecraft into an old-school pixel game from the 90s. You know, like on old consoles – everything square and with huge pixels? Something like that.

*For now only pixelation works, I’ll add the rest later*

## What it does

### 🎮 Makes everything pixelated
– You can adjust how much to “pixelate” (from 1 to 100)
– I set 32 by default – looks pretty good
– Works simply: takes a bunch of pixels, mixes them into one big one making an 8-bit game analog

### 🎨 Old colors
– Cuts the palette down to 16 shades per color (like in old games)
– Creates those “steps” between colors
– Just like on ancient computers

### ✨ Tweaks the picture
– Slightly changes brightness so it’s not too dark
– Makes colors 20% brighter
– Generally tries to make it look good

### 📺 TV Noise (optional)
– Adds old CRT TV static noise effect
– Animated grain that moves over time
– Can be turned on/off in shader settings
– Makes it feel like playing on an old television

## How to configure

### Main settings
– `PIXELATION` – how much to pixelate (1-100)
– 1 = almost no pixelation (very fine)
– 100 = strong pixelation (big squares)
– `NOISE` – TV static effect (0/1)
– 0 = no noise
– 1 = old TV static noise

### How it works inside
1. Takes the picture and “rounds” pixels into blocks
2. Cuts the number of colors to 16 per channel
3. Adjusts brightness and saturation so it doesn’t look ugly

## What it runs on

– Need Iris (won’t work without it)
– Minecraft 1.16+ (haven’t tested on older versions, might not work), recommend playing on 1.20.1
– Doesn’t lag even on weak computers
– OpenGL 2.1 is enough (that’s a very old standard)

## How to install

1. Download and install Iris if you don’t have it yet
2. Drop the `BitNixelet` folder into the `shaderpacks` folder
3. In Iris settings select this shader
4. Adjust the pixelation setting as you like

## What’s currently buggy

– Sometimes artifacts appear if you pixelate too much
– Some blocks might look weird
– Interface gets blurry with strong pixelation (don’t know how to fix this yet)

## Fixed bugs

– Fixed wrong pixelation math that caused weird scaling
– Fixed edge artifacts by preventing texture sampling outside bounds
– Fixed pixel centering for cleaner pixelation blocks
– Fixed potential crashes from division by zero in color calculations
– Fixed color overflow issues with proper clamping
– Fixed inverted pixelation logic (now higher values = more pixelation)
– Fixed NOISE setting not working properly with true/false values
– Optimized luminance calculations for better performance

1. **Download:**
– Visit the green “Releases” tab and download the latest release.
– Extract the contents of the ZIP file.

2. **Installation:**
– Open your Minecraft launcher.
– Navigate to the “shaderpacks” folder inside the “shaderpacks” directory in your Minecraft game folder (usually located in `%appdata%/.minecraft/shaderpacks`).
– Move the extracted folder into the “shaderpacks” directory.

3. **Launch Minecraft:**
– Select the profile with the installed shader pack.
– Start the game.
